Chief advisor leaves for New York tomorrow

Chief Advisor to the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus will leave Dhaka for New York, USA, on Sunday night to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to the itinerary, he will arrive in New York next Monday and will address the UN General Assembly session on September 26. He is scheduled to return to the country on October 2.

Senior Assistant Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor Faiz Ahmed confirmed this information to BSS.

Four political leaders will accompany the Chief Advisor on the US visit. They are BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb Ameer Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, National Citizens Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir.

Earlier, Foreign Affairs Advisor Md. Towhid Hossain told reporters that the chief advisor will present to world leaders the reforms carried out in the country over the past year and the commitment to establish a truly democratic state system through the upcoming national elections.

The chief advisor will participate in a high-level meeting titled ‘High Level Conference on the Situation of Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar’ chaired by the President of the United Nations General Assembly on September 30.
